Rare Speciality Coffee Beans — What Makes Ours Different

SCA stands for Specialty Coffee Association — the global authority on coffee quality. Only coffees scoring 80+ qualify as "speciality". Both ours score above 90 — top 1% worldwide. Very few UK or Irish roasters stock beans rated this highly.

Buy our speciality coffee at 2 Montgomery Street, Belfast BT1 4NX, or order online for UK and Ireland delivery. Every bag is roasted in small 5kg batches in Belfast. Pop into the café on Montgomery Street to taste a shot before you buy.

Our direct relationship with a single estate at 1,600m altitude in Honduras gives us access to microlots most roasters cannot source. This is genuinely rare speciality coffee, traceable from farm to cup. Why we're Belfast's best speciality coffee — the full story. New to the city's scene? Finca Jerusalén

High in the Honduran mountains, at 1,300–1,600 metres altitude, Jose and his family have been growing exceptional coffee for generations. Their farm exists in harmony with the surrounding rainforest — no chemicals, just pure dedication to the craft.

We work directly with Malgorzata Ebel to ensure fair trade and sustainable practices every step of the way.

Buying coffee beans in Belfast

If you're looking for coffee beans Belfast offers at speciality grade, your options are limited — the city is well-served for espresso shots and pour-overs, but far fewer cafés bag their own beans for take-home. SHOT Belfast does. Both Jaguar and Black Panther are roasted in 5kg batches and packed as whole bean within days of roasting, ready for the grinder at home.

We sell whole bean only by design. Ground coffee loses its aromatic compounds within a few days of grinding; whole beans hold their character for weeks if kept airtight and cool. If you're new to home brewing, a sub-£40 manual burr grinder will transform your daily cup — the flavour difference between fresh-ground and pre-ground speciality coffee is dramatic, especially at SCA 90+.

You can pick up Belfast coffee beans in person at our café on Montgomery Street in the city centre, or order online and we'll deliver fresh-roasted whole bean across the UK and Ireland. Standard delivery is £3.99, 1–3 working days. Subscribe for regular deliveries and save up to 10% versus one-off orders.

Questions About Our Coffee

What does SCA 92 and SCA 93 mean?

SCA stands for Specialty Coffee Association. Their 100-point scale is the global standard for coffee quality. Only coffees scoring 80+ qualify as “speciality” (top 5% worldwide). Our Jaguar scores 92 and Black Panther scores 93 — placing both in the “Outstanding” category, the top 1% of all coffee produced globally. Learn more in our guide to SCA scores.

What is the difference between Jaguar and Black Panther?

Jaguar (SCA 92) is a Parainema variety with a washed process — clean, bright, with notes of caramel, hazelnuts, floral aroma, and sweet mountain orange. Black Panther (SCA 93) is a Geisha varietywith an anaerobic natural process — rich and complex, with cocoa, blackberry wine, blueberries, and maple syrup. Both come from Finca Jerusalén in Honduras.

Do you deliver across the UK and Ireland?

Yes. We deliver across the UK and Ireland. UK standard delivery is £3.99 with typical delivery in 1–3 working days; delivery to Ireland is £5.99 with typical delivery in 2–4 working days. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days of purchase.

How should I brew your speciality coffee?

Our coffees are whole bean espresso, suitable for any brewing method. Pour-over methods highlight Jaguar's floral clarity, while immersion methods suit Black Panther's heavier body. See our full brewing guide for detailed recipes and ratios.

Do you sell ground coffee, or only whole beans?

We pack and ship whole bean only. Ground coffee loses its aromatic compounds within days — whole beans hold their character for weeks. If you don't have a grinder yet, a manual burr grinder under £40 will transform your daily cup. To taste the difference first, our café in Belfast city centre is the place to start.

Can I subscribe for regular deliveries?
